Slices of Nature - Methodology II

Methodology II - Slices of Nature
Slices of Nature is a project working with slowness. We created a product that reflects on natural light during the day and time of year, so that it interacts with and intensifies the atmosphere in a city space, pulling the observer into the now.
The goal of the project was to figure out a way to design a concept or some sort of product for slowness.
We chose to work with nature in a city setting, based on research and investigations like questioners and experiments in pedestrian streets.
Slices of Nature gives the opportunity to bring flora into the city context, by planting directly on top of the slice of nature.
The form of the slice is inspired by geological cuts into earth, creating an organic form, with relation to geologic visualisations.
Slices of Nature incorporates natural daylight into city streets by giving off light that reflects on the colour of the sky of the specific time of the day and year.
During our work we used several methods tought to us, like building universes. But we also created our own techniques, like a method we called gameification, where we created visuals and forms by playing cards containing our main sources of inspiration and drew/collaged/formed them out for a specific amount of time.
Slices of nature was a group effort by Esben Dyrholm Hansen, Nana Nielsen, Rebecca Ross Pedersen, Sif Erlingsdóttir and Tom Tholander, 4th semester Designschool Kolding, 2017.
