Horn Ok Please Hostel Brand Identity & Website Design
Work for HOP | 2017
For as long as most people can remember, the phrase ‘Horn OK Please’ has always been painted behind commercial vehicles like trucks, buses, rickshaws or local taxis in India. No one knows where it came from or why it is so widely used, but there are many possible theories. Probably, it was just a simple instruction to the person driving behind, asking them to sound their horn in case they wish to overtake.
Over the years, the phrase has grown well beyond Indian roads and has become a part of pop culture. It has inspired innumerable blogs, videos, loud pillow art, and restaurants in Pune, Rajkot, Indore and even London.
But, being a hostel that’s proud to be the perfect companion for travelers, we had to wear the time-honored badge of ‘Horn OK Please’.
For the logo, we gave the truck art lettering style a contemporary twist, mixing in the colors, the joys and the craziness that makes India - INDIA.
We even took a few pieces from Mumbai, the hostel’s hometown, and made them a part of the logo.
We noticed that the logo seemed a little bulky, as part of its Indian identity. So we put together a smaller logo which packs the same vibes into a small little packet, that snugs neatly onto all official documents.
Red. Yellow. Blue. The most used colors on trucks lent themselves to our Brand Identity and left their mark on our icons.
The best way to check out all the work done for the hostel is to have a look at the website. Or better still, you can book a room and check-in.
