This poster draws attention to the far-reaching effects of global warming. It shows the future of the Earth, when the polar icecaps have completely melted and the sea level has risen lots of metres. Nearly all dry land has been submerged so that finally the Earth has been turned into a water planet. In order to visualise the complete submersion of the Earth by water in a forceful manner and create a three-dimensional effect, the paper was soaked in water. When beholders look at it, they cannot help but touch the paper to confirm their impression and find out whether this is an actual texture or an optical illusion. This interactive behaviour, as a response to the optical illusion of the design, achieves its aim of raising awareness. The interplay between fact and fiction about the future finds a simple expression that works entirely without words.
