I've known Shelly since junior college, but I've loved film since my first viewing of E.T. It is one of the medium's I feel most comfortable working with and identify most closely with on a personal level. This short film is filled with rich, hand-drawn and painted typographic signs. It also takes place in the beautiful South and surrounds one of the South's favorite past times--fishing. The narrative circulates around a powerful and emotive dialectic between generations and genders, tradition and improvisation. Reel Tradition packs a tight punch in ten small minutes.
