The Resurgence of DTLA
In collaboration with Studio Fabric, we produced a series of interior and exterior renderings, as well as a short marketing video, for one of LA’s most coveted luxury apartment residences. As Downtown LA resurfaces as a prime destination, our team took the opportunity to shape the images of what will soon come to be LA’s hottest neighborhood.
To meet the needs of the client, we played with dramatic lighting and rich textures, while maintaining precision, which ultimately contributed to the luxurious and dreamy feel apparent in each rendering. We had a vision of glowing evening skies and the serenity that one finds at dusk. Plush greenery and still pools eluded to the idea of Circa as an oasis amongst bustling Los Angeles.
While the apartments and penthouses range from 700 to 4,000 square feet, it was important to depict an elite world that all Circa residents would be a part of. One that included a two-acre amenity floor with two swimming pools, fire pits, lush foliage, and dog parks. An inspiration for the two tower’s lobbies, designed by interior architects HansonLA, were drawn from the natural elements of an iceberg and a sand dune. Our renderings needed to display quality and detail appropriate to the level of precision that the designers themselves put forth.
The two tower's exteriors are comprised of almost entirely glass, posing us with a unique challenge. Even tight exterior shots reflected the surrounding environment, a recognizable landscape of downtown LA. To deliver the highest level of accuracy for these backdrops we had a drone photoshoot in which we gathered panoramic video of all reflections, backdrops, and views from the interior. We produced fly-throughs of each area of the development and animated certain elements, such as the fireplace, to create natural movement. The final shot of the video is an elaborate parallax created by adding elements of 2D animation to a photograph.
