I wanted to design a vase the could put wildflowers beautifully. Because I admire the beauty of the same as it was in the wildness. I tried a lot of troubles with various attempts, but finally I thought that it was not necessary to design a vase.
After all, I was designing a message, not just a vase. Lets not break the flowers. Let's not thear the leaves. Sometimes Lets go out to see beautiful flowers rather than fill my room with cruel beauty. And this is the another message I want to tell you. I will make this a material that can be used as a manure. Sometimes, everything is as good as it is.
"We can be beautiful enough as it is."
이번 위캔드웍스의 주제는 꽃병입니다.
부모님의 시골집에서 머무르면서 '아름다운 꽃병이란 무엇일까.' 고민을 했습니다. 강아지와 함께 시골길을 걷다가 보니 길가에 핀 들꽃들이 보기 좋았습니다. 꽃의 아름다움은 꼭 내 방으로 가져와야만 빛나는 것은 아니더군요.
꽃들은 꺽이는 것보다, 꾸미는 것보다 길가에 핀 그 상태 그대로 아름답다. 이런 생각이 우리 삶과도 꽤 닮은 것 같았습니다.
저는 꽃병대신에 꽂병의 형태를 한 어떤 메세지를 만들어보았습니다.
꽃을 꺽어오는 대신에, 우리가 나가서 그 아름다움을 지켜보도록 디자인된 야외용 꽃병입니다. 이 화병은 밑이 뚫려있고 거름으로 분해되는 흙으로 만들어졌습니다. 이 꽃병을 발견하시는 분이 있다면 메세지를 전달하고 비바람과 함께 녹을 것입니다. 그 다음해에는 더 아름다운 꽃을 피울 겁니다.
우리도 있는 그대로가 제일 아름다울지도 모릅니다.
