The Fifth Scream from space - Adobe Munch Contest

THE FIFTH SCREAM
#munchcontest
This is my entry in the Munch contest by Adobe.

In his painting, Edvard munch wanted to depict the metaphysical feeling of despair and anguish he experienced as he witnessed a spectacular meteorological event while walking in the vast Norwegian Fjords with his friends.

I can relate to this feeling of being small and lost as I think of the vastness of the universe that Science has revealed and documented since. This is why I chose to adapt the famous scene in a spatial / Sci-Fi universe. Would this existential feeling of distress persist as we explore other planets?

A glance at the work in progress:
This is also my first real attempt at creating digital painting in Photoshop, featuring several characters as part of a landscape. I used several of Kyle T Webster brushes, including Munch's brushes, which enabled to create a large variety of cool effects while maintaining a good control of the result.
I had quite a lot of fun, and will be looking forward to create a new painting using these technics as soon as possible :)
