These 1-hour paintings were created in my Painting 1 class over Summer Term 2017. This was my first introduction to painting, and I truly had a blast.
This self portrait was an exercise in the use of an achromatic palette and introduced us to color mixing / color theory
The following three paintings are contrast still life paintings done with a palette knife (as opposed to brushes). The goal of these exercises was to learn how to mix colors and capture various intensities and dullnesses on objects due to light.
The goal of this assignment was to use only two colors - crimson red and green (created from ultramarine blue and yellow) and create an abstract cityscape with each rectangle containing a different color. We were to apply the paint with a palette knife, which was almost as challenging as mixing unique colors, but overall the assignment widened my color mixing abilities.
The following paintings were painted outdoors around our beautiful campus. The first was an introduction to pointillism while the others expanded upon the pointillism techniques.
