I wanted to create a version based on the painters experience and thoughts while he was working on this painting. I chose the colors based on the colors that the painter used, I got new shades and tints by mixing the ones he used, no other colors were added. The colors hex #: #ED872D; #E34234; #3F00FF; #40826D

Doing research on the painting I found out that the creature in his painting is most likely a Peruvian mummy that he saw before the painting. He shared this information in his diary and a friend of his said that Munch was fascinated by the screaming facial expression of the mummy.

The scene was painted from his experience walking on the bridge. In his biography Munch said that that's where the hospital for mentally ill people is, where his sister resides. His sister suffered from multiple disorders as well as depersonalization disorder which causes oneself to feel and see the environment distorted. Therefore the patient might see a bloody sunset as a burning environment resembling terror.
