MIKO+ jewelry project addresses the issue of constructing the normative body in 21st century as well as it gives attention to the problem of unwanted body - the inefficient one. The project is focusing on the wrist - joint exposed to congestions which are the result of modern manual work system - most often in front of the computer. Great percentage of people is struggling with the wrist pain caused by mechanical injuries or specific diseases such as the carpal tunnel syndrome. These conditions require wearing orthosis. Many people feel ashamed to use them - it points out a state of disability. Despite of the medical recommendations people, especially women are refusing to use orthosis. MIKO+ project is a family of 7 jewelry pieces with additional value - physiotherapeutic function. Jewelry pieces were designed in cooperation with a physiotherapist. Their efficiency has been confirmed during the EMG device test which took place in Orthopedic Hospital in Poznan/Poland. The design responds to the needs of the most common and severe wrist disorders : mechanical injuries and neuropathies - its working in both ways - treatment and prevention. Jewelry pieces are made from gilded pink brass and mineral acrylic composite, all made by using traditional goldsmith techniques. MIKO+ project is innovative combination of physiotherapeutic and aesthetic functions. It transfers objects from medical to lifestyle field. The jewelry doesn’t reveal it’s physiotherapeutic function while enhancing the user's attractiveness.
