Cameo - Alysun Henrique

A cameo used to be mainly a carving using relief methods and positive/negative space displaying usually a silhouette of a face or figure. Now it can be any form of media, often as no colour contrast profile silhouettes in oval frames.
Our assignment was to create our own digital cameos of our profile using the adobe products, in doing this we get to try out the programs and learn the shortcuts as well.

Materials Used
  - Hardware: Ipad, Mac Pro
  - Software: Adobe Capture. Adobe Draw, Illustrator CC
  - Platforms: Creative Cloud, Behance

For my cameo I knew I wanted to get that vintage feel, as I often like to wear vintage fashion and see my self in that aesthetic but also wanted an original organic way to it, which will come up in further explanation later on.

I started by having my profile taken on Adobe Capture, it took several shots to get the black/white balance to make a workable form.
I then opened up the image into Adobe Draw, where you began to outline the image very roughly.
Then sending the image onto the desktop to work in Adobe Illustrator, I went ahead and outlined the image again using the line tool and filled in the whole image to create the silhouette.
The next step was making the frame, which i chose this flamey organic shape as it resembles a suns flame, which works with connection to my name (Alysun).
Originally it was all black and white, but was told that it was too harsh and took away from the original silhouette, I then went ahead to play with the colours.

Green is my favourite colour so it's fitting as well as adding to the vintage feeling. Using the colours pallet with it's different tints, the image now has good balance.
This project was helpful as I learned more shortcuts to make things more accesible while working. I gained a better sense of colour as well, understanding how colour can take away from an image either by bringing too much contrast or not enough.
