Tide Bottle Loss Prevention
Loss Prevention company Bluetracs had come to Alpha imaging looking for a solution for the wide spread epidemic of Tide laundry detergent theft. That’s right, Tide. Next to razor blades and baby formula, Tide currently is one of the most stolen items in retail.
Multiple retailers had already spent ample time and money trying to combat this defensively using pricey facial recognition software and forensics. These efforts did not provide the desired results they were looking for. They wanted to change their approach and go on the offense. Bluetracs provides Long range and long battery life GPS trackers. All they needed now was reliable and inconspicuous way of storing a tracker within a shelf full of bottles on the retailer’s premises.
We had worked and revised extensively on the design to retain the normal appearance, weight, and feel while still providing access to the tracker. Below is the work flow from design, to prototype, to final cast urethane production of the vessel used to hold these units and stop theft in its tracks. With success after testing in a few heavily targeted areas these are now on the shelves of many of the largest retailers throughout the country.
