Tipico Advertisement 2016
I was commissioned by Cosmesis Studios to illustrate and digitally sculpt 2 aging busts of legendary goal keepers: Oliver Kahn and Peter Shmeichel. I also had the good fortune to be working closely with the Prosthetics Designer: Clinton Aiden Smith on this one.
Challenges:

The prosthesis were not going to be applied on Kahn or Shmiechel as they were going to be interacting with stunt doubles posing as their older selves during the shoots.

Time constraints are always a consideration but the Talent would not be available for a Life-Cast in Cape Town. This further reduced our time as we would have to wait for them to arrive here.
Solution:

The studio opted to have the talent scanned overseas and sent through so we could begin work sooner.

The prosthesis would be applied on stunt doubles.Their features would be manipulated to look like an aged version of Kahn and Schmiechel.
In ZBrush we were able to overlay the scanned meshes and get a good sense of the discrepancies between the talent and their doubles.
The aging sculpt was then split up and and sent off for 3D Printing.
These were the final sculpts by Daleen Badenhorst and Melani Louwrens.
The sculpts were then split up into their respective pieces for molding and easy application.
They were then cast into silicone, pre-painted and painstakingly punched with hair one follicle at a time. Molding/Casting Dean van der Merwe , Mellisa Melim. Hair/Painting Daleen Badenhorst, Clinton Aiden Smith
The pieces were then applied on set and polished with a second pass of paint and hair. Application: Clinton Aiden Smith, Daleen Badenhorst.
