Samson (Bringing Down the House)

The Bible is full of crazy and unimaginable stories from throughout history, but even still, Samson seems to stand out as an anomaly in how God works. With most people, God would use their faith in Him to do supernatural things, but God mixed things up when he gave Samson supernatural power BEFORE he had developed a strong faith in the Lord. He was clever, good looking, had unlimited strength and answered to no one. Because of this Samson grew up arrogant and careless. Even though he performed amazing feats of strength and caused havoc for the oppressive Philistines, he took his power for granted. Unfortunately, it took Samson loosing everything, strength, freedom, even his eyes, to finally realize where his strength really came from. The picture below depicts the ONE time that Samson acknowledged and called on the Lord for his strength. He pushed over the supporting pillars of a massive building and caused the roof to collapse, killing more people in one day than he had his whole life.
