The Scream #5 for a New Millennium

The Scream #5 for A New Millennium
This is my entry for the Adobe 5th Scream Contest to create the fifth version of "The Scream" by Edvard Munch using his digitally recreated brushes.

Details are at  http://adobe.com/uk/events/hidden-treasures.html

It is interesting to speculate how Munch would have developed his painting had he survived until now. Perhaps his method of applying paint, thickly in some places with a scumbled effect in others, would have remained similar. With this in mind and with the help of Kyle Webster's superb Munch brushes for Photoshop, which are based on measurements of Munch's actual brushes held in archival storage, I have tried to emulate Munch's way of painting, but with a modern twist to the subject matter.

It seems to me that today, in different ways to what Munch originally intended perhaps, the "enormous infinite scream of nature" is even more insistent and spectral.

This is how it might look in a gallery. The painting itself is A3 size, 297mm x 420mm.
