This work was produced with the influence of Bernd and Hiller Becher and their series of repetitious subjects, also the work of Eugene Atget and his work of old Paris. The idea of this work was to produce a series of images of the same subject, taken in the same way to make a continuous body of work. My subject was sculptures, as being in Paris really inspired me to capture the essence of the historic elements. After looking at  Atget's work I was influence by his 'old Paris' work and wanted to recreate his style by capturing the sculptures from below and at eye level, to make them the dominant subject. These images were taken in black and white film as part of the brief and this helped to capture this nostalgic essence of Paris without the distractions of colour and aspects of 21st century influence. Although today the sculptures would have been restored or retouched therefore changes some of the old fashioned look that Atget had at the time.
