A ROPE OVER AN ABYSS

A ROPE OVER AN ABYSS
:: vo·yeur·ism
   /vwäˈərizəm/
   noun.
   the practice of gaining sexual pleasure from
   watching others when they are naked or engaged
   in sexual activity.

It sounds that "voyeurism" is all about sex and eroticism; it's even considered as a psychosexual disorder which needs to be treat for a period of time. Being a voyeur is always shame and awkward. However, sometimes being a voyeur is not guilty at all, when the target turns to another species—— human beings are staring at animals all the time.

We feed our pets, watch animal webcams for pleasure, hunt and poach wildlife for achievability due to the superiority of being a species which can make and use tools, are conscious or self-aware, and have sophisticated ways to communicate with one another.
So are we exceptional and unique? Yes, but so too are other animals. The interaction and communication among species always exists. Some of us already tried to think like an animal, others have not noticed how sensitive an animal can be.

A ROPE OVER AN ABYSS is a book discussing human-animal relationship, it illustrates the sight from opposite perspective by showing information and images from both human and animal. Further more, Friedrich Nietzsche is an significant inspiration of this book. His philosophy often contains the discussion of forgetfulness (animality) and memory (humanity). The book is named by Nietzsche's Superman's quote.
