Identidade de marca e wayfinding design | Brand identity and wayfinding design

O Centro Cultural Univates, inaugurado em 2014, é um complexo que abriga a biblioteca e o teatro da Univates (Universidade do Vale do Taquari), em Lajeado (RS, Brasil). Com arquitetura grandiosa e monumental, o centro tem a intenção de virar uma referência para a comunidade acadêmica, para a cidade e para o estado. O projeto arquitetônico também foi a principal referência para a criação da identidade de marca e do sistema de wayfinding.

The Univates Cultural Center, opened in 2014, is a complex that houses the library and theater of Univates (Vale do Taquari University), in Lajeado (RS, Brazil). With a grand and monumental architecture, the center intends to become a reference for the academic community, the city, and the state. The architectural project was also the main reference for creating the brand identity and the wayfinding system.

A identidade de marca é formada por um símbolo criado a partir da abstração da fachada do centro cultural e de um logotipo derivado da própria identidade da Univates, fazendo uma forte relação com o prédio e com a universidade. O resultado é uma identidade flexível com uma aplicação principal (centro cultural) e aplicações individuais (teatro e biblioteca). O estilo de traço da identidade foi desdobrado em um sistema de pictogramas.

The brand identity is formed by a symbol created from the abstraction of the cultural center facade and from a logotype derived from Univates own identity, making a strong relation with the building and the university. The result is a flexible identity with a main application (cultural center) and individual applications (theater and library). The same stroke style developed for the identity was adapted into the pictogram system.

O sistema de wayfinding também se baseou nas linhas da arquitetura para criar seus elementos. A partir de detalhes na parede de entrada da biblioteca, um estilo de corte angulado foi criado para dar identidade às peças do sistema. As cores foram muito presentes para organizar a informação, sendo utilizadas nos cinco andares do prédio da livraria e também no prédio do teatro.

The wayfinding system also relied on the architecture lines to create its signs. Based on details of the library entrance wall, an angled style was created to give identity to the pieces of the system. The colors were very present to organize the information, being used in the five floors of the library building and also in the theater building.
