Motion Design - Chevy HMI concept and its Android Demo

I designed this concept HMI for Chevy electric vehicle back in 2010. This concept was designed to run on 8 inch touch screen based display.
Startup animation: The initial part of the demo (Chevy animation) was done in Alias Studiotools which is primarily used in automotive industry for A-class surfacing. It was just an effort to shatter the stereotypes associated with this software that it can only be used as a surface modeling tool. The later part of the video consists of an UX design concept for 8 inches touch screen based infotainment system.
Proximity sensing : proximity sensors provided near the center stack screen brings up the controls onto the screen when user reaches out to them. In other words, the screen goes off when not being used and comes on when the users hand is near the center stack. Once activated the screen remains on for approximately 30 seconds .This also minimizes the driver distraction while driving.
Application tray : users could add or delete frequently accessed function to the app tray. The app tray functions sits at the bottom of the screen thus easily accessible. The app tray icons are designed to be a little bigger as it provides better visibility. The icon animation when added or deleted through the app tray brings in an element of fun to the overall user interaction.
I developed this android app to get the feel of the actual Chevy HMI concept that I designed back in 2010.
