1 - The first step was to start playing with the shapes and, of course, watching the movie again. Probably it was the 8th time!! (I really love this movie!)

Looking better! This is the final sketch. I tried to get cartoony, a little bit like pop art and still somehow detailed enough to be realistic. The idea was to get something like The Beatles and the Yellow Submarine with a touch of Roger Rabbit. Not to forget some reminiscences of Robert Crumb´s psychedelic urban drawings and Ralph Bakshi´s American Pop.

Here you can see some of the references used while sketching. I used some footage from the movie but also pictures from similar models. The movie is a too little dark to get all the details of the cab!
