GETTING PAST THE FILTH (1)
a photographic investigation by Cristina Bodnărescu
For the past two years I have investigated through photography the Dâmbovița River that flows through Bucharest. Even though it is polluted, its stench doesn't scare the fishermen, nor the tourists who eagerly come to Romania.
In all the filth the water is carrying, I tried to capture its astonishing reflections. Dirt and ugliness are decontextualized, resulting in a series of abstract photographs, where lines and colors meet in a way that influences the viewers perception of beauty - I hope.
