Qbofly, an remote controlled helium robot.

Qbofly is the first ever smart phone controlled helium balloon robot.
You can control Qbofly move forward, upward, downward, turn right and turn left by phone. And it also can be reprogrammable to do any movements you like with Arduino.

Play game with your friends!
You and your friends can play multiple games with Qbofly such as air battles, air races, and more!

Use it as a toy or message carrier
You can attach light items to Qbo such as a feather and turn it into a cat’s toy, or a message and turn it into a proposal prop.

Compatible with Arduino
Coding with Ardunio, uploading firmware with Qbofly App (OTA). You can reprogram Qbofly to do any movements you like. 4 servos offer Qbofly high flexibility, can be controlled by coding.

How does Qbofly work?
Qbofly is mainly composed of a helium balloon and a fly suit. The 35 cm helium balloon offers about 20g buoyancy And its macromolecule coating prevents helium from escape leaking. There are 4 micro servo motors which enables Qbofly shuttle through the room agilely. Thanks to our high efficiency power management system, Qbofly offers you at least 40min of play time.

Design story
Why do we design Qbofly?

At that time our company was researching applications for flexible electronic printing devices, hoping to design some products for those electronic printing devices. Inspired by some flexible robots, such as the movie, big hero and Festo's flying penguins, a soft, friendly flexible balloon robot was created. At the beginning, we released the flight video of the balloon prototype to the network. In just one day, it caused tens of thousands of viewers, so we decided to productize Qbofly.
We designed it as a consumer product. We started with lighter servos, and we hope that Qbofly will be as small as possible and can fly flexibly indoors. Qbofly's balloon is also a component that affects the user experience. We are looking for a balloon that has a good manufacturing industry, beautifully coated, slow leaking, and perfect spherical shape.
Improvements are subtle, but the user experience of every generation is being upgraded.

First generation Qbofly
The original Qbofly was just a simple balloon with wings. It was huge, easy to leak and could not fly in a right direction.
1st generation fly test
2nd generation
The Cartoon image is basically ok, but the product looks rough. The wires are messy. We used the existing development board, it can not be customized flight operations, and often lost connection.
2nd generation fly test
3rd generation
Basically reach the functionality of existing products, we still need to design our own PCB board, app and improve the control experience.
