Preparing for my bachelor thesis, I visited many wszystko za 5 zlotych shops (a Polish equivalent of American dollar stores and British pound shops) to collect a various assortment of objects used in the kitchen, in the bathroom, more or less useful gadgets, decorative items and toys. The aim was to play with concepts of an aesthetic pleasure, values of the objects, cheapness and luxury.
My bachelor thesis, Between an eye and a pleasure, is an elaboration of topics such as still life photography, the dominance of the sense of sight, an aestheticization of an everyday life and sources of an aesthetic pleasure. It also discusses relations between objects and a human as the contemporary consumer. You can read more about it here.
