"Journey"
Tempus finds himself born into the world with only a strange ball resting on the floor before him. With no clear motive, he decides to roll the ball along and begin his own personal journey through an unusual and surrealistic world that begs to be explored, and find out his purpose in it. However, the journey ahead of him is no short of obstacles, as Tempus has to discover on his own how to traverse this endless path of surprises; because life is, after all, full of surprises, but not all of them are happy ones.
Journey came to be after a friendly conversation about the course of life, and how most of us seem to be put on a certain path in our early days, until an obstacle interferes and changes us to a more individual person. While not the absolute truth, the topic brought in mind the idea of a metaphorical journey through life, where the different phases of a typical life are broken down to simple, minimalistic forms and shapes, and a character having a smooth journey through this surreal world until the breaking point happens, where he has to step out of his safety bubble and stand up to the difficulties of life

To create this world, I decided to use 3D and break down my forms and characters to simple, basic shapes, such as spheres and rectangles; an attempt at a minimal, simplistic design, but also a choice meant to help realise a relatively large storyboard, by saving time and complexity.

The project took about three to four months to make, and underwent a variety of phases until it was rendered to life. Technical difficulties appeared often to make my journey an obstacle course of surprises, but with enough time and persistence, as well as the help and talent of friend and composer Moritz Wanger, the film was able to reach completion and be a part of the University of Arts London Graduation showcase of 2017.
