Do you see me?
Watching the struggles and strengths of black women in America today to me is profound, uplifting and devastating all at once. The stories and events that shape their lives can sometimes be heart breaking but some how form a resilient person of passion and purpose.
Each person is asked “What is it like to be a black women in the United States today?” but what the answer I may really be looking for is “What gives you strength?” By asking this question I hope to shine a spotlight on what it really looks like for a black woman to live amongst the political and cultural atmosphere of the United States today.
Do you see me? is an attempt to create a platform with these words and portraits to facilitate other individuals and communities to start the important conversations that need to happen to make the change and start the healing process.
