Sentido
"Meaningful Tableware"
Sentido is a set of plates with an unique design and clean aesthetics. The aim is to help the chef to create a new experience for his clients. The design of the plate is meant to let "everyone" eat in a more convenient and user friendly way and has some special characteristics allowing also one-handed people to eat independently and comfortably.
Each plate has an especific set of features that allows the user to eat easily with just one hand.
The edge was designed to perfectly fit to a spoon so is easy to scoop event the smallest pieces and sauces on the plate, without the need of using a second hand or cutlery.
The Sentido experience is meant to be shared by everyone and is not reserved for the happy few. As a matter of fact, the main purpose of the plates is to create a great spirit of unity among the people while they are eating together. We want people with one hand, older people and all people in general to be able to be independent while eating, and that they can all use the same tableware.
As designers we are continuously evolving, always trying to find the best solution for problems that consumers are facing. Although design became more and more universal, there is still a lot of place for growth in several areas. Until now, designing for people with disabilities has always merely been focusing on the functional part, leaving the aesthetics aside. This created users having a feeling that they are different from the rest, the "normal" people. And that's why Sentido was created.
While working closely with Chefs, restaurants, one-handed people, ergonomic schools, rehabilitation centers, and ceramists, we were able to develop a unique product that could match people’s needs.
We're very proud that "de krant van West-Vlaanderen" published our project in their newspaper.
