"Yeh hain Pakistani!"
Around 7 decades ago, although people of the united India shared varied culture, ethnicity and values, yet you will hear and read anecdotes of innumerable instances when people did show love for each other despite the differences. Then reality kicked in and what was famously known as the sub-continent got divided into the countries we now know as #India, #Pakistan and #Bangladesh.
Since the time of the partition, people from Pakistan have been under the impression that people from across the border bear towards them grudge and deep rooted hatred and vice versa. I am of the opinion that this hatred and enmity among the people exists solely on a political level. People, particularly the youth from both countries, share a similar mindset and manner of looking at the world. Also, the desperate need of having better relations, is common and true in both the nations.
While our differences are far from over, I believe that the possibility of harmony is now greater than ever. We are just the same people, but disconnected due to reasons which may simply be dubbed as purely political. So in order to break the wall of enmity and shatter the misconceptions about the relationship between Pakistanis and Indians, I present to you a photo series called “Yeh hain #Pakistani!” based on what my friends from India really think of us, Pakistanis, in general. This photo series gives out a message of #brotherhood through the words of our brothers from across the borders.
All thanks to #AIESEC for giving me an opportunity to connect with these brilliant individuals on my Global Internship Programs in Turkey and Greece, respectively.
