Uncharted Territories is a four-part artist book series, printed with archival inkjet on handmade bamboo paper. The project is part of a faculty research grant and was exhibited in a faculty show.

Uncharted Territories represents an ongoing collection of work investigating ‘phenomenon of form’ that draws inspiration from the collision of art, science and technology. The aim of the work is to explore a diverse range of image making methods, and in the process, develop a new digital-visual vocabulary that becomes a 'kit of parts' in a flexible emergent system. The system of parts shift between graphic abstraction and quasi-reality, and is intended to take the viewer on a metaphorical journey across liminal landscapes and into a parallel universe — altering between galactic and nanoscopic scale. The forms are meant to evoke a sense of wonderment, perhaps making us question how we see, what we see, what can been seen, and what remains to be discovered.

Motivation for this investigation comes from a personal desire to construct shapes through iterative, systematic and intuitive processes. The images materialize through computational graphic illustration, photographic manipulations, vector tracings and collage. The work is fueled by an eclectic mix of sources including; theoretical physics, cosmology, glitches, digital artifacts, cartographic language, high resolutions scans of textures & surfaces, the Apollo archives, and photographs from my own personal travel archive.
