How the ITA Has Benefited Its Members
From his headquarters in Chicago, Perry Mandera oversees operations at The Custom Companies, Inc., a firm he founded in 1986 to provide logistics solutions to clients throughout the United States. Further, Perry Mandera is a member of the Illinois Trucking Association (ITA), which provides resources to and advocates on behalf of Illinois’ transportation companies.

Since its inception, the ITA has benefited its members in several ways. In regard to advocacy, the organization helped to bring back the Rolling Stock Tax Exemption, meaning rolling stock sold to shippers, lessors, and company owners has no use or sales tax attached to it. Further, the ITA has generated savings of $100 million across four years via I-Pass savings through its work with the Illinois Toll Highway Authority, and has seen the reduction of the commercial distribution fee that transportation companies pay by 60 percent through its work with the Illinois Department of Revenue.

The ITA also provides an array of educational opportunities to its members, all of which it offers free of charge, and serves as a key sponsor of the Illinois Professional Truck Driving Championships, which welcomes more than 150 participants annually.
