Pig Iron School for Advanced Performance Training Identity
Pig Iron Theatre Company - Philadelphia, PA
"Pig Iron Theatre Company has been transforming and expanding the definition of live performance with its award-winning productions. Leaving convention behind, Pig Irons director-led ensemble-based process breaks assumptions about the limits of live theatre, and proposes a fresh and daring new understanding of the possibilities of the stage."

APT is a two-year program for theater students to further develop their skills in a process of self discovery. Here students are challenged to build trust, play, take risks, collaborate, and embrace the impossible. APT's curriculum is based upon a philosophy of dynamic and physical studies, as well as a holistic approach to theatre production. Here students must perform, direct, design, write, and construct original works while continuously feed-off one-another's create energy.

The identity for APT was based after the idea of kinetics, both when a body is in perpetual movement and at a state of rest. The logo is type-set in a very strong, classically rooted, yet contemporary typeface. Multiple angles and color combinations where implemented to convey this sense of energy and playfulness represented in APT's curriculum. In addition, the logo is allowed to appear in multiple forms across various media. It is allowed to acquire new visuals in the form of patterns and gradients. APT's logo can also exist as a four one color permutations, in the case where color palette is limited. To create order, five colors were limited to the identity system.

Project was completed while at gdloft.
