SOLVE FOR ONE: RAISING AWARENESS BY HACKING
Me and a few coworkers created and produced an event to bring LA tech and accessibility communities together to make the world more accessible for people with disabilities. We partnered with Global Accessibility Awareness Day and The City of LA to create a two part event, with the first part consisting of a speaker series aimed at building awareness around accessibility issues and solutions. The second part consisted of a hackathon, where creative technologists, coders, UX designers, and creatives gathered to hack for 12 hours. The event resulted in 10 solutions presented, spanning multiple causes.
One of the winning teams received a contract from the Los Angeles Department of Disability to create a version of their winning Solve for One idea, called MyWay, which will provide a geolocation-based service whereby which disabled individuals can identify accessible amenities using crowdsourced data.
For this event, Team One was awarded a few business awards by The City of LA.
