A graduate of Tulane University, Geoff Block spent several years working as a Wall Street investment professional for such institutions as Crown Growth Partners. He has since redirected his focus to managing his family investment holdings. Alongside his wife, Geoff Block founded RLB Squared, where he oversees operations and supervises employees as manager. 

Although no work environment is perfect, managers can promote and maintain motivation among their employees. One of the simplest ways of accomplishing this is through communication. Managers should clearly communicate what their employees must do to perform their jobs efficiently and host routine staff meetings to ensure everyone stays on the same pages. Further, managers must make sure that their employees feel comfortable communicating with them. Doing so allows employees to come to the manager with any problems or ideas that could improve overall workflow.

Beyond improving the lines of communication, managers can bolster motivation by offering training opportunities to their employees. This gives employees the chance to develop their skills and offers new perspectives. Additionally, employees should be praised for their good work. Whether they’ve completed a project early or have learned a new valuable skill, employees are likely to get a boost in motivation when they know their efforts are noticed.
