Second Hand Golf Clubs: A Re-Brand

Re-Branding & Launch: SecondHandGolfClubs.com
-
I was asked to re-brand an existing golf club resale website as well as create a logo for their new up and coming website that buys golf clubs. Their aim was to generally bring it up to date and modernise their overall appearance so starting with their logo on the re-brand, I decided to play around with what they already had (see below) and just simplify, tighten and clean it up.

[Their original logo]
Having the "Second Hand" in bold was a very important part for them and so I worked the figure around the type. Above you can see multiple variations that include their motto, 'making top brands affordable', which was another component they wanted to try and incorporate. They eventually settled on the first logo in the right hand column, with maybe a slightly simpler version for smaller print and digital platforms.

Due to association, green is a great colour to be paired with 'golf' and therefore, giving me the idea to use a famous golf course as a background for the homepage. It's instantly visually pleasing and fresh faced with minimal and easy to use quick links, with the brand logo central and the first thing you notice.

As it's a very brand driven company, displaying the designers that they stock was a key component. I added a selection of all the labels they stock in a banner form above and below the logo, slightly transparent as to not overpower the logo but are still noticeable.
Again, I kept the main shopping page clean on a white background, simple drop down menus that are easy to use as well as a straight forward sans serif typeface that's easy to read. I added a golf cart icon to the shopping basket link as a bit of fun.
For the launch of their new website that buys golf clubs from customers, I was given the requirements to incorporate a more life-like golfer and to use a vibrant colour. I recreated this golfer in action and thought as a bit of fun, to place him at the end of the logo as if he's hit the full stop away. Again, I chose to go with different gradients of green as a fading out effect and find it really works well. The company wanted me to simplify the golfer even further and we ended with the standard outline of his figure.
