Paula's Jewellery Re-Brand | Freelance

This is a commissioned project where my client asked to re-brand her homemade jewellery business. She did not really have any unified branding as she has just started doing this as a business for about 6 years now. She has been making her jewellery for over 20 years and selling them at craft shows all across Ontario.

My goal was to give her a more modern, professional and styled branding that is unique to her business and will help her stand out from other booths at shows. My client wished for new business cards, product signs, photographs to demonstrate and prove she makes them & a large tent banner sign. She wanted her brand to appeal to a large audience but maintain a fun feeling.

I will start this off by showing some of her previous signs and business card to help demonstrate the overall transition.
Her business card is very outdated and does not suit the style of brand that she would like to have. The elegant script font might have worked 20 years ago but it does not work as well now. The picture is blury and sits too close to the other elements of the card.
This was her main hanging sign which she has 4 of. These signs hang down on the edges of her tent and their main purpose is to grab attention of people passing by. Currently they look very hand made and unprofessional which might give negative and false impressions that the jewellery is also not of high quality.
This is one of her specialty necklace signs. These items are supposed to be large focuses and they always sell well. Their current sign is very last minute and doesn't really sell them very well.
These are some of her product signs that sit at the end of her bracelet displays. They are all different sizes, shapes and on different paper and styles... Basically they are all over the place and have no real unity to them at all. This was my main challenge that I wanted to solve. I wanted every piece of her new brand to feel like it belonged.
This is her final new logo. I used a much more fun, handwritten script to accent her name and create a much better wordmark. My client already had her display boards in the colours of blue and pink and she really wanted those to be her branding colours. I took those colours and created her final logo and then continued that branding towards the other elements.
I took her business cards from being old and outdated to fun, funky and personal.

I used one side to display her logo and the other contains her contact information.
I added small icons to keep it very modern and give the side some visual interest.
I continued the same fonts from the logo into the signs and added a little banner of colour at the top of the sign with a braiding texture since all of her crafts are hand braided.
She wanted the prices to pop as there are often many people and booths around to distract your eyes. I added a white border around the numbers to make them stand out from the background even more.

I wanted to include the pink AND blue in the signs but having them both on every sign felt like a lot of different colours that don't really mean anything. Then I got the idea to use the colours as a coding system as well. All the blue signs are more mature and sophisticated jewellery and the pink was used for the designs aimed at younger teens and children.

I also made her many smaller price signs and some anklet sizing signs as well. They are done in the exact same style as the signs above.
These are here new final hanging signs. These signs will significantly increase her tent's curb appeal with the eye catching colours and large, readable fonts.
After my client had approved the sign designs I then printed & laminated them for her. The signs all had to be properly laminated as most of her shows are outdoors and needed to be very durable to all types of weather.
Here is a close up of a small anklet sign resting on her display.
Here is an example of how her display would look at a show with my new signs in place.

And how the signs look at shows.
Here are some before & afters to show the drastic change her brand underwent and how the unity creates a much stronger, more professional appeal.
After making her product signs, I focused my attention on the last piece of her job, the tent banner. I wanted to continue with the overall branding theme of the other pieces but also make it stand out from the other signs to make it obvious that it is their main one.
I decided to do this by having both blue & pink on the main banner, as all the product signs are either one or the other. This allows it to looks different but still unified.

My client wished for a lot of copy on the banner considering she also wanted the font to be very big and readable. I began by trying out many different layouts and variations of typography until I came to my final 4 that I would show my client.

My client ended up agreeing with my decision for option #1 and approved me to move to the final printing process.
Here is the final banner after printing hanging inside my clients tent at a recent show.
She has always wanted a banner for many years and she is overjoyed to finally have one that is bright, bold, durable and very visible.
In conclusion, I am confident that I have given my client an entirely new brand identity that is both professional and fun. Her business has gone from mix & match to completely unified and creates a much stronger professional appeal to potential customers. Now the quality of her signs reflects the quality of her jewellery instead of misrepresenting it.
