The Lord's Prayer

Our father is dead
He who was stitched together by faithful fanatics,
frantically feeling their own sense of doom

Who art thou, Peter?
Paul?
That you may dictate the future from centuries past?

In heaven, they say, all is forgiven.
Eternally.
You are with those whom you have shared life
and will share life with again

Hallowed be thy name, Lincoln.
You and all the others
Franklin, Hamilton, Jackson
Let your names dictate our actions
Not he, the holiest.
Heathens.

Thy kingdom come, but.. when will it arrive?
We have been waiting.

Thy will be done!
But only when optimal for myself.
Why should I adhere to your will you faceless infinity?

On earth, the rules are different.

As it is in heaven, you want for nothing.

Give us this day then.
Give it to us damn it.
And let us forget that we are blessed with this day while we take tomorrow for granted.

Our daily bread will sustain us you say.
But for how long?
I cannot survive indefinitely.

And forgive us, oh father.

Our trespasses are grave, yes.
But we did not mean them.
We were merely caught up in the moment.

As we forgive those who strike us down.
They
Who trespass against us
With no regard to our own well being.

And lead us.
No.
And herd us.
Like sheep to a slaughter.

Not into temptation shall i succumb, oh father.
Just you watch, I will survive. I will thrive.

But deliver us at the gates I read about.
With a gentle nudge, send us on our way.

From evil comes pain and suffering.
It is where I lost the ability to sympathize.

For thine, I spread this message, oh father.

Is the kingdom still standing?
Or has it crumbled?

And the power?
Is it still abundant, or is everyone found wanting?

And the glory, yes, the glory!
It must still be there.

For ever and ever, it must still be there...

Amen
