The Yaktrax Summit is a new category of traction gear that bridges the gap between low-cost traction products for everyday users and high-priced, activity-specific trekking gear like crampons. They are quick and easy to put on your boots, thanks to their unique closure system: the device opens wide to fit around your boot, then cinches down securely with a turn of the Boa dial. Many lightweight traction products are difficult to put on, because they rely entirely on a stiff elastic frame stretched around your boot. And because the products stretch, they can often come loose or detach from your boot in rugged or steep terrain. The Summit utilizes a Boa ratchet lace system, with flexible stainless steel laces, in a unique way to overcome these problems. The device can open extra wide, so the user can easily step in to put them on. The user then turns the Boa dial, closing the product securely onto their boot. The precision dial allows very fine adjustment so the fit is secure, and the product stays on the shoe through endless abuse. The unique natural rubber construction, with stainless steel laces, allows the device to conform to the user’s footwear and flex with your movement, without stretching or loosening over time.
Compared to traditional crampons, the Summit’s minimal design is flexible and compact, allowing them to be folded up and stuffed into a tiny storage bag. The Summit may be light and compact, but it boasts heavyweight performance in the ice and snow. The traction plates on the Summit feature aggressive 3/8” curved stainless steel spikes, positioned on the heel and forefoot for ideal traction in diverse, rugged terrain with packed snow, glare ice, and mixed winter trail environments. The two-part traction plates articulate as you move, preventing snow and ice buildup. And the secure Boa lace system with fine-tuned ratchet dial gives the Summit a secure, stable feeling on your boot.
