Perfect. Creative Conference

Client: Massey University - The Designer's Institute of New Zealand (DINZ)
Duration: 6 weeks
Output:  Poster, Brochure

Background: Create a one-day creative conference (including conference topic, speakers, and audience) to be hosted by Designers Institute of New Zealand (DINZ). Next design a transmedia 'provocation' to attract and inform design students, teachers, and practitioners of the event. The programme information is rolled out via a poster and 12 page brochure.

Solution: For my creative conference I chose to explore the concept of perfection as it is so prominent in the world of design. Through my research I came to the conclusion that it is the process to perfection that determines how we perceive it. Because perfection is viewed individually, and I wanted to attract a range of personalities in my audience, I decided to leave my visual media open and balanced. This is so the conference is not viewed as a negative or positive bias. The conference focus's on the discussion which is also why I chose a range of speakers who’s views and experiences contrast to get a comprehensive conversation on the topic.

I used a golden egg as a visual metaphor for perfection. The concept of cracking an egg plays to the idea of perfection being a process. I believe it is the process that reveals how you will view perfection in the end - achievable or insanity.
