Moratorium is a photographic project exploring the socio-political gaslighting in post-conflict Northern Ireland.

The series documents the rural settlements of County Antrim and the reality of active territorial codes since the 1998 Good Friday Agreement.

Referencing the photographic theory and philosophy, in particular that of Roland Barthes and Colin Graham, the project examines the experiences of the “Peace-Process Generation,” and the justification of active territorial codes, such as political murals and interfaces, as tourist attractions. This consumption of the everyday reduces the tremors in a post-conflict society to spectacle.

The work encourages the viewer to question not only the narrative of the artist, journalistic media they consume and the traditions of war photography, but the reliability of their own memory and perceptions.
