Major Mob, a student web project

The Major Mob website is a student project completed by Kate Lawless, Alicia Baraniewicz, and Hannah-Love Shibley in May 2012.

The purpose of Major Mob is to help high school students explore career opportunities before they enter college in order to aid the creation of career plans that will help students choose colleges and their majors more wisely.

The website is just one aspect of the Major Mob project. I worked on the writing and the design of the site with Alicia and Hannah-Love, but played a key role in coding the HTML and CSS for the site.
On the main home page, a featured image slider helps to engage viewers and drive them further into the site.

The classes page consists of a CSS mouse hover feature, which allows viewers to read, one-at-a-time, descriptions of classes they can attend at MM.
The Meet a Mentor page features 5 or more mentor profiles to help inform students of the types of mentors they'll meet when the join the free career service. The refresh button takes them to 5 or more more mentor profiles.
This page includes a description of the MM job shadowing program to future and existing volunteers. It also features an image slider detailing the many companies that participate with MM.
This page features the description and icons of what Major Mob does for students. This image shows a new CSS3 text-highlight feature is enabled on the site, as well as a Twitter feed to attract viewers to connect and interact with MM online.
Major Mob's footer consists of the sign-up/contact form as well as key company information, site map, and helpful links/resources.
Mobile-optimized sign-up/contact form enables high school students and adults to sign up to get emails from Major Mob and get involved.
