"To reach my inner elevation ngingen' eZulwini"
This is my journey. I started off struggling with my self image,
then went on to fighting and trying to change who I am
before I realised being a version of someone else isn't an option on the menu…
Eventually, I came to understand that being my own person was a beautiful thing
and this is giving me the strength of Samson from within.
I'm still growing.
Which for me, is a beautiful thing to celebrate.
Which for me, is a beautiful thing to celebrate, that can so too easily look like vanity,
because we live in the age of vanity - it’s easy to confuse it with narcissism.
when sometimes it's just you holding up a mirror to see the beauty that you are.
It's easy to let our our true self image hide in the shadows of self doubt, and it's even easier lose sight of
all the little pieces that make up who you are.
We're all puzzles, some complete, some in progress, others yet to start but we all have bonds with our environment, our sexuality, our history, community and culture. I wanted to shine a little bit of light unto of myself,
and use that to open myself up to a level of self understanding. As cheesy as it sounds, you can't start to love and understand without first knowing and accepting - yourself.
Taking lead from the "me, myself & I" concept,
I created a "self-squad" to represent me both visually and more. I chose unusual and somewhat complex beauty from the faces of family and friends to capture a sense of my own alternative beauty,
and also reflect the kind of beauty I have always admired.
I wanted to tell the story of my personality, my ego, my realisations, my history and ambitions
and share with you a peek into my story.
