TEMPLE OF CREATIVITY
Location:
The site is located Aswan between the two dams on Awaad Island, a very important and deeply rooted place, where the two most dominant participants are the nature and Philae temple.
Aim:
The project is a hybrid educational institute of architecture, fashion and arts. It aims towards creating an atmosphere that inspires the students and dig deep into their own genes.
Wakeup Call:
The project’s biggest challenge is to prove that dealing with traditional contexts doesn’t require historical mimicry. In addition such ancient contexts are not compatible with imported foreign design approaches that completely ignore the roots of the place and are mostly imported for their “WOW” Factor. In this context, I connected every aspect designed with what has already been there, from the landscape to the mass morphology till the very minute radical functional details, yet nothing was copied.
THE ARCHITECTURE STUDIO:
-The shot is taken in the second studio, overlooking the first studio where they are visually continuous . The studios being connected together allow students to be open more to each other and learn mutually. -The students atmosphere of experimentation seen in the shot is what is targeted in these studios.
THE LIBRARY:
-The large universal sapce of a library is redefined by dividing its interiors into several vertical and horizontal compartments where each compartment serve a certain function. -Some compartments are used for talks, which is a new way of information transfer introduced in libraries but is derived mainly from the Nubian culture “Radical Layer”
The Exhibition:
-The exhibition shot shows different vibrant fabrics that are layed there in the atrium. These fabrics act as a source of inspiration to the students. -In addition, The shot captures the impression of amazement and shock of the Nubian girl who is for the first time is introduced to an avant garde dress designed and inspired from the Nubian & Egyptian traditional fashion style. Such a shock is what the whole project is about. To shock the nubian community with such ideas to catalyze their production and introduce them to a new door to creativity
