Betty was developed by Andia Abernethy and Trak Gray for a Colab Studio brief titled Digital Skins, which asked participants to develop a piece of technologically activated wearable art, conceptually informed by posthuman theory. As a reimagination of the Pale Man from Guillermo del Toro’s film Pan's Labyrinth (2006), Betty is a greedy girl who lures in men with her big lips, high art flare... and her big fat butt! Betty is born from trickster mythologies. Instead of tempting her bait with delicious food, she has shape-shifted into a priceless cubist artwork. Her hunger is for men and money. Don't get too close or she'll gobble you up.​​​​​​​
