YWCA Week Without Violence

Alicia Procello Maddox serves as the president of the Avery Dennison Foundation in Glendale, California. Alongside her work overseeing Avery Dennison's corporate social responsibility programs, Alicia Procello Maddox supports her local YWCA. She served on the board of the YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley in recent years.

The YWCA is a nationwide charitable organization that works to end racism, empower women, and advocate for peace and justice for everyone. In addition to lobbying for hate crime legislation and equal pay, the organization offers education, empowerment programming, and a wealth of resources in cities throughout the United States.

In the Pasadena-Foothill Valley region, the YWCA hosts the Week Without Violence during the third week of October each year. October is traditionally Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the United States. The Week Without Violence was established over 20 years ago in order to mobilize people in communities to fight back against violence in all its forms. The YWCA partners with local agencies to host a weeklong series of events that focuses on family, race-based, and gun violence in hopes of encouraging alternatives to these types of conflict.
