Since 2015, James Dixon of Mountain Brook, Alabama, has served as the managing director at the Birmingham office of Stifel Nicolaus & Company. An MBA graduate of the University of Alabama, James Dixon has worked as a financial services professional for more than two decades. Throughout his career, the Mountain Brook resident has been active in several industry groups, including the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
In its efforts to help members advance their careers and stay current on financial rules and regulations, FINRA hosts a number of educational events throughout the year. Recently, the organization wrapped its 2017 Annual Conference, which took place May 16-18 in Washington, DC.
Nearly 1,500 people attended the three-day event to take part in an education program comprising more than 50 sessions on a range of topics, including cybersecurity, digital communication, market regulation, professional ethics, and compliance practices and concerns. The conference also included exhibits, networking events, and a keynote luncheon featuring Idaho Senator Mike Crapo.
FINRA is now busy preparing for a number of events, including its Fixed Income Conference, Advertising Regulation Conference, and Small Firm Conference. FINRA's 2018 Annual Conference will be held May 21-23 in the nation's capital.
