“ We cover the universe with the drawings we have lived.”

Every space that we encounter has an impact on us whether it is big or small. We subconciously imprint our memories and feelings onto these spaces or as Gaston Bachelard believes, we draw onto the universe. These drawings don’t have to be exact but they are a reflection of our inner selves that no one else can see when looking at the same space. Choros is an exhibition designed to take  people on a journey through my own spacial drawings while experiencing them in their own way. I hope to encourage people to become aware of the spaces they are in and the amazing unique drawings they print onto those spaces.

Proposed exhibition:
A photographic map of my life in the spaces I have experienced. The map will be large scale printed onto material that will wrap around the exhibition space. The parts of the map that are out of reach to people will represent the more distant memories where as, the parts that people are able to get close to and touch will represent more recent memories of spaces. Within the map I plan to use golden thread (a representation of my thread of life) to abstractly show my personal drawings on the spaces I choose to display. People will be welcomed to touch and inspect the map, but will only be given an explanation of its meaning to me after they have experienced the exhibition and theoretically drawn their own ideas of its meaning for themselves.

Proposed space:
A portable glass gallery that enables people to experience the exhibition from various angles, indoors and outdoors, as well as in various locations. The idea that changing the location of the exhibition will affect peoples experience of the space is an idea I am interested in.

Catalogue:
The exhibition will include a catalogue of information that goes into minor details of the photographed spaces, the age I was when I ‘drew’ onto those spaces, the name I call them and their location on a map. People can only look at this information after they have experienced the space for themselves.
