Jeopardy: A Literary Arts Magazine.

Jeopardy Magazine
Jeopardy is an editorial institution that has been in operation for over fifty years, serving its community by providing a platform for poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and fine art. For the 16/17 year from September to June I had the honor to work as the print designer for the 53rd edition of the magazine.

Theme
The editorial team and I had several conversations regarding an unofficial theme for the 53rd edition. This did not affect which submissions were accepted, but rather served as a guide for creative inspiration. The theme of this issue was loosely defined as "Windows of Opportunity."

Statement: We often find ourselves within moments which require a decision to be made or an action to be taken. These moments are generated by the past and greatly influence the future, but are not necessarily chronological in the regular sense. Rather, they construct lives as a series of windows or transient seasons through both active and evocative forces.

Illustrations
In order to loosely relate our concept, I developed a series of abstract illustrations that use a containing frame, referencing a window-like object. These illustrations were generated through tactile means. First, compositions were created digitally, then printed, then cut and rearranged, and finally photographed. The process achieves a subtle effect of richness and depth.

Event
To initiate the release of the year's book, we hosted an event at the local museum, free and open to the public. Contributors were invited to conduct readings and books were disbursed to the community.
