ix. A/DA Flanger

this is an adaptation of the A/DA Flanger from the 1970's, modded slightly to incorporate the MN3007 chip instead of the usual, obsolete, and quite rare SAD1024. there are a couple of mods i tried to incorporate involving a light dependent resistor, but they didn't really work well. at this point i'm starting to realize that i should be testing these mods before i just build them in...
i purchased this pcb online from moosapotamus, who is the gentleman that spearheaded the MN3007 retrofit and had several versions and updates of these pcbs made with the help and support of the diy community. i purchased the freshest update on the pcb layout directly from moosapotamus, and proceeded to build it right away. the board is an especially big one, which i realized going into it. i had to sand the edge off just a little bit so that it would fit into this enclosure, which, so far, is the largest enclosure i have ever used for any pedal.
through my own inexperience, this pedal ended up being a HUGE undertaking, and it took several months of occasional debugging to get it working properly. this thing is pretty intense, though, and it was worth it. if i were you, i would just drop the 300 bucks or whatever for the reissue.
that said, i was really happy with the way the etch turned out on the box, and im starting to get really stoked on etching boxes in general. around now, this became probably the most exciting part of the build, short of putting the knobs on a boxed up, working circuit. :)
spring 2010... ish...
