Divine Magazine
As part of the Divine magazine project we had to work as groups in order to produce a magazine based on Religion. Our group decided that we would like the magazine to be targeted at the Y Generation. With this in mind, we wanted to communicate through a quirky attitude and so key elements that were chosen as part of this, were the masthead, the use of half pages throughout and to have all images to bleed off at least one edge of the page.

We extended the theme Religion, taking a focus on Rituals. Each member of the team had to focus on an individual article and design their own cover, so for my article, I took a focus on Lucky Rituals in Gambling within my article. I wanted to ensure that I was creating a ritual within my article and so created 3 different layout styles, plus 2 feature pages for pacing, which I was able to repeat in a pattern to visually demonstrate our theme. I wanted to keep this quite playful to maintain the quirky attitude and so have used the vernacular on full size images with card symbols over the top and used gambling symbols to direct the eye to where the reader should begin on each page.

To finalise the piece, we repeated everyone’s articles at the end, to create a ritual within the magazine. However, the repeated section has been flipped backwards to reinforce the quirky attitude set for the magazine.
