UVA Orthopedics Achieves National Recognitions

In preparation for his surgical career, Dr. Bobby Chhabra completed a fellowship in hand surgery through the Hand Center of San Antonio. An orthopedic hand surgeon, Dr. Bobby Chhabra serves as team physician for UVA athletics and chairs the University of Virginia’s (UVA) Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

UVA’s medical facilities have achieved national recognition for the quality of their services and the consistency of outcomes. For example, U.S. News and World Report assessed UVA’s orthopedics program as “high performing,” scoring it especially highly in the areas of nurse staffing, advanced technologies, survival, and in its performance of hip and knee replacement procedures.

Besides the U.S. News and World Report recognitions, the UVA orthopedics program achieved placement on the Becker’s Hospital Review 100 Great Orthopedics Programs for 2016. In its write-up on the program, Becker singled out UVA’s hand center, which is unique in Virginia, and whose facilities deliver comprehensive upper extremity treatment to patients in the area.
