The “Backpacker’s Guide App” will give you access to many different hiking trails rated on difficulty, incline, distance, time and scenery preferences. It contains maps, a search engine, and augmented reality. The augmented reality function will show information based on the hike you are actually doing. It will show different statistics on how far the peak might be or how far to the end of the trail, by holding the camera up.
The challenge consisted of creating a functional app that uses augmented reality in some way. The inspiration for this app was based around different hiking trails and ranking them based on personal preference. It is intended to make it easier to find new hiking spots suited to individual tastes and abilities.
